Manhunt launched for suspects which shot teenage girl during CIT robbery in Thokoza

Gauteng police had launched manhunt for suspects which shot teenage girl during cash-in-transit robbery happened in Thokoza on Saturday,27 December 2025.

Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that police are on a lookout for an unconfirmed number of suspects who committed a cash-in-transit robbery in Thokoza on Saturday, 27 December 2025, at approximately 13h30.

Masondo revealed that the suspects bombed the cash-in-transit vehicle which was already capsized because bumped into it and took the undisclosed amount of cash.

"It is reported that the cash-in-transit armoured vehicle was driving in Thokoza, when it was bumped by a white Mercedes Benz, forcing it to capsize. Several suspects then disarmed the security officers and bombed the armoured vehicle. They took an undisclosed amount of cash, while other suspects were shooting at the escort vehicle.

"The suspects, thereafter, drove off in four vehicles," he said.

He also revealed that a 13-year-old girl was hit by a stray bullet, and she was taken to hospital. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
